Copper Accessories

You may find this odd but copper triggers a vivid memory of tomato sauce bubbling over a rustic stove top — its spicy aroma trailing through my Nonna’s Abruzzo kitchen. Whether her padella (pot) of choice came from traditions passed on from her own grandmother or just an Italian statement, the love affair between her famous spaghetti al sugo and her copper pot is enduring.

I have countless inspiration boards for my future kitchen. Lately I’ve been toying with the idea of one single copper pot. Not only to cherish the memories I have cooking with my grandmother but for the simple fact that, when used delicately, copper adds a touch of regal to the simplest shelf.

I found this striking saucepan at Anthropologie. I’d love to see it hung amidst my rack of common pots.

Here are some other ways to incorporate copper into your home:

Williams-Sonoma has a brilliant collection of copper cookware. I like the hammered effect of this soup pot.

Wow your guests with these fun salt and pepper grinders from Crate & Barrel.

I’ve been hunting for one of these antique chestnut roasters in copper for an eternity. If you spot one way under $850, let me know!

For those with a passion for industrial design, Restoration Hardware marries copper with glass.

This hand-hammered copper bathtub from Pottery Barn would lend a dash of rustic grandeur to an ensuite.

See our gallery of Rooms With Warm Metal Accents for more inspiration.
