Cosy Winter Throws

Cold weather is settling in, and I’m all ready for hot cocoa and holiday movies — comfort foods and warm blankets not optional! These throws are perfect for the chilly winter days ahead:

I’ve seen lots of faux fur blankets in stores lately, and this one looks stylish draped over a sofa. Faux-fur throw, $127, West Elm.

I adore Pendleton wool blankets — especially the handy carrier straps. So perfect for travelling. Pendleton Harding blanket, $248, Anthropologie or Drake General Store.

I always love tartan designs in the winter. As part of an annual fundraising campaign, 50% of the purchase price of this throw from Pottery Barn Kids will go towards participating hospital foundations, including the SickKids Foundation, Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation. Tartan Sherpa throw, $74, Pottery Barn Kids.

Another feel-good buy! This fair isle blanket from HomeSense is part of the Sweet Charity collection — all proceeds go towards the Canadian Women’s Foundation to assist low-income women in Canadian communities. Sweet Charity Nordic Print Throw, $40, HomeSense.

The colour of this crochet edging picks up on the subtle herringbone design. Crochet-trimmed wool throw, $60, HomeSense.

And this soft grey-and-white lambswool throw isn’t overly bulky, but looks so cosy! Jolie lambswool throw, $109, Structube.

There are so many options out there, whether you’re looking for an affordable Canadian wool blanket, a luxurious baby alpaca throw, or one with classic HBC stripes. Now, which one to choose…?
