Bold Bookends

Bookends are one of those decor items that people either seem to love or hate. I’m pretty neutral on them, but lately I’ve been seeing them everywhere. Here’s a roundup of a few that have caught my eye…

These Glass Half Bookends from Urban Outfitters are pure genius. Why not make your fish bowls useful? If fish aren’t your thing, you could also fill these with flowers to keep your book collection looking fresh. Another bonus? They’re on sale right now!

If you know me, you know I can’t stand birds. Still, these little linen owl bookends are so adorable that you can’t help but want them. They’d be perfect in a kid’s room to keep that collection of Curious George books under control.

Polished stones seem to be on trend right now, and well, what better use is a rock than as a bookend? Anthropologie carries these Sao Paulo Bookends that would definitely add some serious sparkle to any bookshelf.

Or you could add a little sense of humour to your shelves with this literal bookend from CB2.

Finally, no bookend roundup is ever complete without the classic dog bookend. For my pick, I’m going with Jonathan Adler’s Junior Dachshund Bookend. Although it’s from his Junior Collection, I would still proudly display this. I really like the shade of pink and, according to Pantone — as Michael Penney recently reported — pink is the colour of the year!
