I know I'm not the only one who thinks of this week as a new year of sorts. Though she doesn't have children stampeding back to school, my friend Kim sees September as prime time for starting fresh. I have to say, I agree: energized by summer breaks — from an hour on a patio to a couple of weeks by a lake — and inspired by my own kids with their crisp new sneakers and backpacks, I'm looking around the house deciding how to bring new life indoors. I wandered over to our merch department to see what's new in the House & Home collection for fall (window shopping at the office: convenient but dangerous). These are my three faves:
Walking in on this crisp white bed with tailored grey stripes would be like seeing an oasis. Talk about prolonging that vacation feeling. Though I'd skip most of the decorative pillows (sorry, Lynda!): at the end of the day, I don't want to fuss with decorating. Boutique Hotel bedding in Malachite, 600 thread count, 100% cotton sateen; in double/queen and king, $19.99 to $189.99, at The Bay.
The hammered handles on this cutlery would add such a great detail and contrast to a simple white table setting. Urban Loft Flatware, 20 pc. set/$69.99, at The Bay.
Pale blue is one of those colours I never tire of. Love the hand-thrown look of these plates and bowls. Abode Dinnerware in Winter Sky, Putty and Snow, 16 pc. set/$39.99, at Home Outfitters.
