Here at houseandhome.com, we're always on the lookout for easy and affordable DIY projects that can help you get a stylish look for less. And this painted chevron floor project in two shades of right-now teal — Bayside 510F-5 and Ice Folly 510E-1 from Behr — fits the bill on every level. It's a great way to inject bold pattern and colour into your space in a couple of hours for the cost of two cans of paint, some tape and a few brushes.
This project comes from The Home Depot DreamBook — now available exclusively online and packed with ideas for kitchens, baths, lighting, flooring and painting — which is even cooler because if you share the photo above on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest you can enter to win one of three $1,000 Home Depot Gift Cards! (This blog is sponsored by The Home Depot DreamBook.)
I'm also a fan of the low family friendly and storage-smart daybed (below centre). Perfect for a basement or a kid's room, it's made from a few storage cubes, some poplar, plywood and MDF. This project requires a jigsaw, drill and clamps, though, so I'd get my handier-than-me husband to make it on a rainy Sunday. (April showers call for power tools?)
You'll find many more DIY ideas in the DreamBook, so be sure to bookmark it and then share your favourite pages for a chance to win. (If you share via Twitter use the hashtag #DreamBook2012.) Which is your favourite project?
