I'm finally into the swing of fall, so I thought I would share some inspiration photos of fall decorating ideas you can try at home.

Bring the outdoors in to ease the transition from summer to fall. This cute DIY Thermos display from design*sponge is so simple, and adds just the right amount of greenery to a kitchen window.

This may not be an "easy update", but consider painting dull floors dark for the winter. It's certainly more affordable than splurging on velvet upholstery. My colleague Morgan Michener painted her kitchen floor white this summer, but going dark creates a cosy, dramatic effect.

Bring out the rugs from storage! I love rugs like these in deep red hues. Scour your local HomeSense for affordable versions of the classics.

And nothing says "fall" quite like layered, luxurious bedding. Cover your bed in last year's duvet, but pick up a new coverlet, quilt or knitted blanket to layer over top.
