Lighting. I don’t know about you, but I find it very hard to commit to a lamp. Perhaps because there are so many out there and, like fashion accessories, they fall in and out of style very quickly. I also sort of believe, like the French, that if you buy a great piece it will last a lifetime — a hard statement to live by, however.
I was convinced that I wanted a simple, almost invisible, glass pendant lamp in the upstairs hallway, but I quickly got over that. Now it’s the spidery-type floor lamps that seem to be en vogue … how to choose?

I say, so what if the mouth-blown Gourd Table Lamp next to the sofa no longer works with the new Platner coffee table? Mix it up and love the look.
