Laundry appliances in the bathroom, closet-free bedrooms and cramped kitchens — I'll take it all if I can have a view of historical architecture, high hills or rolling waves. I dream of taking weekend strolls through French antique markets and dining on delectable pizzas in Italy — I blame HGTV's House Hunters International. Lately I've spotted countless photos of gorgeous homes outside of Canada. These apparently fault-free older homes (where are those dreaded soft blue tubs?) only amplify my urge to live abroad:

Pink and yellow cabinets in the same kitchen? Yes! This London flat is kind of quirky, but I like it. There are turquoise cupboard doors to the right of those yellow ones, too.

This Swedish apartment with French style looks like the ideal home for an artist. Large ornate gold mirrors throughout contrast with the more modern furnishings. And those leaded windows? Sigh… It's up for sale, in case you're looking.

This Swedish flat was also on the market, but unfortunately it's now sold. I love all the natural light.

Where does one find tall doors and mouldings like that?

Check out the detailing in this Moroccan bedroom. I'd never want to get out of bed if I had that view. For now, I'll just have to hope the tree outside my bedroom grows faster — currently my only view is of the neighbour across the street!
