Ask A Designer: Bright Front Door

Ask A Designer: Bright Front Door - House & Home

How to freshen up a façade.

Q. I'd like to freshen our house's façade and have seen more brightly coloured front doors around my neighbourhood recently. I'd like to try this! What are some on-trend colours to use?

A. Painting your front door is an easy fix for spring! For almost any brick or siding, a green like Inland (SW 6452) by Sherwin-Williams will work. A cobalt blue like Benjamin Moore's Patriot Blue (2064-20) will lend a preppy vibe to red brick or white siding. And give grey or brown brick or siding a hit of yellow, as in our inspiration photo — the door is painted in Benjamin Moore's Lemon (2021-20) — or a shock of orange like Charlotte's Locks (268) by Farrow & Ball.
