Open Cottage Kitchen

Dark countertops balance cool white cabinets.

The slanted roof of this A-frame cottage's kitchen doesn't allow for upper cabinets. As a solution, the homeowners added plenty of storage underneath the counters as well as in the island, which was made from part of an old hutch. The dark-stained butcherblock counters add contrast to the all-white kitchen and run the length of the room to maximize the small space.
