House & Home's circulation coordinator Sui Fan Young Tai borrowed this recipe from her friend Kate's grandmother. Serve this coffee cake on Christmas morning with coffee, tea or orange juice.

Ingredients:

1/3 cup melted butter
3 tbsp brown sugar
12 candied cherries
1/4 cup walnuts
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
3 tbsp chopped walnuts
4 tbsp butter
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
3 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
6 tbsp shortening
2/3 cup milk

Instructions:

Step 1: Combine butter, brown sugar, cherries and walnuts in the bottom of a Bundt pan.

Step 2: In a small bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon and chopped walnuts.

Step 3: In another small bowl, melt butter and set aside.

Step 4: In a larger bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, shortening and milk. Knead until smooth.

Step 5: Divide dough into 12 pieces and shape into balls. Roll balls in melted butter then in sugar, cinnamon and chopped walnut mixture. Place each ball in the pan over cherries and walnuts.

Step 6: Bake at 400°F for about 25 minutes. Let stand for 2-3 minutes. Serve warm with orange juice.
