I've had this recipe sitting in my files for years. Finally decided to make it. How would you interpret "SINGLE white cake mix"? I originally had thought it would mean a box of something like Duncan Hines. Then I decided it meant one of those single layer packets.

CHERRY CRUNCH 350 degrees

Into a buttered, ovenproof baking dish (about 10” sq. & 2.5” deep) pour a can of cherry pie filling and spread it around. Sprinkle a single white cake mix over this, and top with a further sprinkling of 2/3 cup of sliced almonds. Dribble 2/3 cup of melted butter over all, and bake at 350F for about 45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

Notes from Home, Timothy Findley

I made it with the single packet and it was very good but felt it could have a little more pastry in it. Anyone done one similar to this? A google search found similar ones that called for package of Duncan Hines and 1 stick of butter (i.e. 1/2 C).

Anyone else want to try it and see what they think. It was very easy.
