Ok I know why and what they were doing but who ever needed 5 ton of maple syrup. What are they going to do with it I hope they sell it off and use the money to help young C/C skiiers but isn't that a silly amount to send to a country that has never used Maple syrup.

Personally I think it was a nice gesture on Canada 's part.
7,400 cans of syrup is not that much ...Norway is a large country. Actually Maple Syrup is one of the items on the Corporate List of gifts to give to other countries. :)
The Norwegien ski Coach that gave the Canadian skiier a pole during the Oylmpics was rewarded by the Canadians sending him 5 ton of Maple Syrup just to say Thank you. Can you imagine getting that.
