There seems to be a disturbing trend in my vicinity...artificial palms OUTDOORS> And not the silk kind (not that it would be any better). They are large metal ones & each leaf is huge solid metal painted green, the trunk is also metal & painted brown, it mimicks the look of a real palm...I'm at a loss..is there something I missed recently? They look absolutely ridiculous- they are as big as real ones too! In the winter with snow all around...has anyone else seen them in their neck of the woods or did I just luck out?

was on the Today show and Matt Lauer told him to buzz his hair too. But he refused - said he can't believe how much people discuss his hair. And he's right - because here we are! I agree - he likes the attention, plus it's male vanity trying to hide the receding hairline.
saw him on a talk show and he was discussing his hair...he always introduces his girlfriend (guess hes her job) and he says hes had good luck with that weird hairdo and its gonna stay...SHE cuts it !!! But cant blame her entirely cause he had that foolish thing long before he had her
He does have an ego as big as all outdoors, doesn't he. Pretty soon his hair is going to match his ego.
LOOOOVE the attention doesn't he? Funny to watch him work a room...:) Can't read from a monitor either... but who am I to tease...he IS the TRUMP!!
How can he look in the mirror and think his hair looks good?! Although on the other hand, maybe it's all part of a clever marketing plan -- the worse his hair look, the more people talk about it, and the more he's in the minds of the general public.....
There is such a thing as divine retribution, and Donald's hair is God's little crack me up.
get me going on his hair!! For the love of all that is holy!!! Does no one tell him it's time for a do???? I don't want the $250,000 apprentice job. I just want the opportunity to right that lid- for FREEEEE!!! Do you think he'd let me if I wrote that to him? DH thought I was nuts when I told him:) It really pains me....his hair...
Money definitely does not always equal taste.
Sometimes just for fun, I look through the MLS listings for houses over $1,000,000. Not that I'll ever be able to afford one, but it's nice to dream :)
Some of these huge & expensive homes are just horribly decorated. And lots have really crappy kitchens.
It's sort of like Donald Trump's hair -- is that the best that can be done with all that money?!
ok you win....what an eyesore:D
yes those are sad too...:( but IMAGINE huge metal palms in that same setting? In front of a multi-million dollar home....just goes to show...money doesn't buy good taste:)
on a main road near me there is a little house surrounded by a chain link fence...hanging on the fence are about a dozen rubber boots all painted a lovely shade of blue...filled with plastic flowers...they hang there year round...just wonder what they were thinking?
NOTHING can be worse than hanging pots of PLASTIC summer flowers in the middle of winter (outside I mean)...well inside too
I guess I will be returning mine then...
Seriously, have been contemplating getting fake mini trees to block out landlord peeking...I kill everything alive anyway. I'm in the process of killing off landlord's ugly plant that he left here as a "welcoming gift". Yeah right, it's in there all the spiders live. I've trapped it in a room with no light hoping it will die a slow and painful plant death.
I like some kitchy stuff too. I got some really sparkly whirly things to hang, a really big windsock in the shape of a ladybug, and a couple of whirligigs on a stick. It's good fun, and the kids like the happy atmosphere it creates.
We have a couple of those real palm trees in my neighbourhood too. Hollywood North indeed!
Hate to say it but, I kind of like a couple pink flamingos -- only 2, no more -- it's kind of kitchy.
Now fake palm trees outside that's downright tacky.
Here in Victoria some homes have real palm trees outside!
In the Vicinity of Howard and Cabana, there's a store that sells pool supplies. I can't explain it either. Are they left over props from Gilligan's Island? go figure.
...it could have been another plastic pink flamingo trend.
they really are enough to drive one to drink...I mean really??? We aren't in the tropics, this is land of the pine trees!! I will try to take a pic. It shouldn't be hard the one house has them lining the driveway on one side...this is waterfront house with property taxes equivalent to my mortgage...then the other day I saw one peeking out from another ones yard! That's when I started to worry....:(
Artificial palm trees outside?! I never heard tell of that, and I don't want to see it! Are they trying to think "tropic"? Crazy!
