Artwork in Master Bedroom

My bed is flanked with two bed side tables and two lamps. I would like to place artwork over the bed side tables, my question is do they have to match in style? Do not like any artwork over the bed, then I thought would one piece of art work be ok and on the other side place large vase etc...

While it is common to have symmetrical layouts and decorating in bedrooms, I think you should be okay to place art on one and objects like a vase and frames on the other. Perhaps it would work well if the objects take up a similar amount of space/height to still give a spatially symmetrical look?

Here are some bedrooms with two different side tables, which manage to pull off the look:

And bedrooms with the same side tables and lights, but different accessories atop:

I, too, would love to see photos if you have any. Hope this helps a bit!

Personally I think it's a good spot for symmetry, but there's room for play.  Do you have a picture of your space?

I've been debating between mirrors and art for over my nightstands, and I think I'm going to go with some mirrors from Ikea.  (as soon as I get over my spray paint phobia and get my lamps done)  Here are photos I found to be inspirational.  ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
