Bobcat size?

Now, I have another fill problem. The contractor is going to bring 5 to 7 dump trucks of fill this week. We need more fill than that and the neighbours fence and turf are going in this weekend. I am definately getting frustrated.

Does anyone know how much room it takes for a bobcat to get beside a house?

If we can't get the bobcat into the back yard we will have to build a road from the street below, just to get the bobcat into do its work. Very frustrating.

Oh, I just thought of another question. If a large dump truck holds 23 tonnes, then what area will that fill? I am going to search online right now. If anyone knows the answer It would definately save me time looking and calling.

thanks for the info.

I think the fill is going to be fine. There will be 5 to 7 truck loads coming tomorrow. I suspect that it is a smaller truck that the one in the photo. Anything more than that will come later and have to be dumped in front and bobcat take it to the back or lifted to the back from the street below.

I think we just have enough space for the bobcat. There is 2m from the corner of the house to the property line. I think that is 6 1/2 ft. From the sounds of it a bobcat will fit.

I met with a landscape architect today and spoke to two others. I must say that I am very disappointed. They said it is about $1000 for a conceptual plan. That means they don't even provide plant names, just type (like tree shrub etc.)

I think we are going to do more research and go with a landscape designer. We really just need a plan for the plants. DH and I will have to figure out the wall/berms/tiers etc.

Oh, as for fill. I am just going to see how it looks tomorrow and decide what to do then.

Dawn is right you shouldn't need more than 5 feet width...and 23 tonnes is quite a bit...but it all depends on the square footage or meters of the space being filled...here is a picture of what 23 tonnes will be carried in...keep in mind that there will be more dirt piled in the middle of the box and not so much at the front and back of the box...long story short it has to do with the axles and ministry regulations...but they do vary from province to province...is the fill coming in tri-axles or tandem axle trucks...?...you can tell by the wheels...a tri axle has the front steer wheels then a lift axle then two more axles at the back...a tandem axle truck has the front steer wheels then just 2 axles at the back

oh and he's only gonna use a bobcat/skidsteer...that may take a while...but then again i may be wrong...i'm more familar with the hauling of the material rather than the laying and spreading of it....we just haul the material to the concrete and asphalt plants....we don't do job sites...

This is not my area of expertise by any means, but I have neighbours who renovated and had a really small one doing the yard. It's not much wider than the cage where the operator sits, and quite frankly looks like a toy ride! I'd guess it's 3-4 feet wide.
