Hi there, my house is a corner lot and there is a sidewalk that runs to that side. I have a fence that covers right up to the front porch. However, i have neighbours that feel its ok to walk across my grass to make a short cut... I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to perhaps make my front garden more enclosed (private) so that I dont have this ongoing issue. Im not a gardener though I would be interested in anyones suggestions. Im making this a priority as soon as spring arrives.

Hi Louise, When you have a garden it is your duty to make it enclosed. I think that you should spend your time for gardening and try to put some plastic rocks in your garden. If there is no space to walk in the garden then no one will walk across and your problem will be solved. You have to spent a lot of time in the garden and also plant some flowers. It is always going to be a good advantage for you to plant flowers and make your garden more beautiful, above all your family will also feel a nature friendly environment which will be a plus point.
Thankyou so much for all your help Mrs Peacock, these are excelllent links with wonderful ideas!!
Having trouble finding pictures but did find a couple of articles about corner lot properties: http://www.bhg.com/gardening/landscaping-projects/landscape-basics/landscape-the-corner-lot/
Also, remember about codes for your area. Here is an example for Phoenix AZ. http://phoenix.gov/STREETS/visible.html

This one is something like I was thinking but make it 2 sided http://www.trellisstructures.com/gallery/28-new-england-trellises.html
Something like this only bigger and then put in a nice flowerbed on your side. http://www.homeproductsnmore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=861-2&Click=7128
Hope this helps.
thankyou, i will definitly need a visual for that. appreciate it.
The only thing I can think of flowerbeds. Stragecially placed, they could deter anyone from cutting through. If you can build/put up a 2 sided corner wall (made out of old doors, lattice work, old windows, etc), you could grow some clematis or ivy that will grow and fill in and create a bit of privacy. I will see if I can find a picture or two of what I mean.
thankyou kindly for the link.
Hi Louise, I wonder whether a hedge or evergreens around the perimeter of the property would work. Here are some inspiration shots:

Unfortunately we don't have tips for growing hedges online, but here's a link with more info: http://landscaping.about.com/od/hedgesfences/Hedge_Plants_Fences_for_Pri...
All the best!
