All the magazines show solutions for entryways with symmetry, but my entrance has the stairs leading up with the door to the right. Which means that when you climb the stairs, you are looking at a wall. Can anyone help me out with this. How do I go about decorating this. Classic contemporary is my thing. As I see the picture for myself, I'm noticing that colour wouldn't be a bad thing!
Much appreciated!!!

Here is my crude rendering...........I would like to see the railing beefed up a bit. You could paint your bench a wonderful bright colour and add pillows like Mrs Peacock sugessted. They have some good outdoor paint now and your bench is pretty sheltered there on the porch. Do you need house numbers where you are? You could add a large rock to cover up more of the lattice at the bottom of the stairs. Put in a few more patio stones for a planter or several planters (diferent heights at the bottom of the stairs) Have fun with it! It looks like a great space!

A couple of cushions on the bench too. Definitely put something on the wall in front of you as you walk up the stairs. A different colour door could work as Anrol said.
Not sure if my last comment made it, so I'll try again. Here is another angle for 'anrol'. I think I'm definitly closing off the stairs and will add a colourful rug. There is enough room to put an urn beside the bench so I think I'll try that first. Thank you Mrs Peacock for your ideas. SOOO much appreciated ! Any others? lol

I think Mrs. Peacock has the right idea about closing in the stairs. Could you back up and take another picture of your home from a distance? It would be nice to see the surroundings. I really like your front door and it would be great to paint it another colour.
You definetly need some kind of wall art - something metal or an old window frame. Also if you can enclose the stair risers, I think that will help with the look a bit. Can you do a smaller bench on the porch so you can add an urn on the left with some greenery in it. What about an old hall table with display of shells or driftwood or a collection of candles. Maybe a larger fancier light. I have attached a short ladder to the ceiling of my front porch over my light box and put in a screw in plug to the light box so I could plug in some twinkle lights that I have strung over and around the ladder along with some vine - looks pretty neat at night and is bright enough, IMO. Maybe a colourful outdoor rug would help with the colour thing too.
