Curb appeal entrance headache

Image: Main house entranceImage: Main house entranceAll the magazines show solutions for entryways with symmetry, but my entrance has the stairs leading up with the door to the right.  Which means that when you climb the stairs, you are looking at a wall.  Can anyone help me out with this.  How do I go about decorating this.  Classic contemporary is my thing.  As I see the picture for myself,  I'm noticing that colour wouldn't be a bad thing!Much appreciated!!!

Not sure if my last comment made it, so I'll try again.  Here is another angle for 'anrol'.  I think I'm definitly closing off the stairs and will add a colourful rug.  There is enough room to put an urn beside the bench so I think I'll try that first. Thank you Mrs Peacock for your ideas.  SOOO much appreciated !  Any others?  lolImage: front entranceImage: front entrance
