drapery hardware solution

I want to hang draperies on either side of a large patio that already has vertical blinds installed on it . Can anyone suggest a hardware solution? I have to leave the verticals installed as the place is located in Florida & I need the verticals for protection from the sun.

How about a double curtain rod (meant to hang two curtains like sheers and then a curtain panel?  Just don't put up the 2nd rod.  The ones I have (bought through Linens N Things when they were still around) are not adjustable but for some reason I thought some of the them were adjustable.  If not adjustable, you could attach a couple of decorative blocks to the wall above the doors and then attach the curtain rod to the blocks which will bring them out from the door further.

Thanks for your suggestion. It may work, but I was thinking that later on I may want to put a cornice board right across the door to cover up the vertical track although there is a valance on the verticals right now. I don't want  to  have to much "going on" at the top of the window

Would a ceiling-mounted drapery rod in front of the verticals/vertical track work?
