drywall valance

cowie's picture

My hubby and I are repainting our bedrooms before laying new carpeting at the end of November. Our dilemma is that we have a drywall valance built into the wall where the window is located. It runs the full length of that wall. I would like to remove it but it appears that the wall isn't finished behind nor the ceiling. My husband says it is too much work to fix and make it look good. A drywaller in our area are hard to find especially when it it a patching type of job. I really feel it looks outdated. We redid our living and dining area last year and kept the valances for the same reason. Should I keep pressuring him or let it go ?
