Here's another test. I just noticed if you look at other posts that contain quotes where they kept the name/number coding there is an arrow beside the name. I never really noticed it before but if you click on it, the original post (quoted) appears. So I guess there would be some reason to leave that original coding sometimes.

If you just use the general html code, no arrow.

Cool, DBD! So you can just change the name of the person afterall? Of course, you'd have to be sure to delete the numbered code...

I'm going to try right now:

True... absolutely true.
I didn't find it such a pain when it was just a matter of changing a name

I don't have the patience to go through all the steps to post pics so they're embedded in the message :o Although that's actually the better way to do it, I think.

I wish we could post more than 5 pics per post......

Hey Janet,

After posting the above message I went in to double check my directions and discovered that H&H had changed the forum html codes to include a number with every post that becomes part of your quote. Where before it would say:
[ QUOTE=Tangotori ]
(note: I've put spaces after and before the two [] so that the computer wouldn't read it.
Now is reads:
[ QUOTE=JoannaM;224005 ]

Because these numbered codes are only visible when you quote the post, it means that quoting MULTIPLE posts - while not impossible - will definitely require more steps.

Specifically:
1) Hit "quote" at the bottom of the post you want to quote
2) Write down the numbered code that belongs to the message you want to quote.
3) Follow the steps I've set out in the message above BUT... change out the numbered code of the original quoted message for the numbered code of the second message you want to quote.

So... you'd need to replace the name (exactly the same as the user name - caps, dashes, underscores, etc.) AND the numbered code.

With these additional steps - including the steps above, you should be able to quote multiple posts from the thread in your message.

Joanna - I do that by storing my photos on a different website. I use PhotoBucket - and there is Flikr (and others?).

When I upload pics to PhotoBucket I set the size to Medium so that it's a good size for posting here. Then, when I want to post, the pic shows 4 different types "Link Options". I use the forth one "IMG Code". Usually, when you left-click it, you'll see a yellow box that says "copied". That means that I've copied the code and can paste it into my message (if you don't know how to paste - hold your Ctrl key down and press V). On occasion I don't see the little yellow copied box. On those occasions I left-click the code and press Ctrl-C (this means copy) on my keyboard. Hope this is making sense!!

The code that is copied into your message is simply text surrounded with brackets like these: [IMG] - you won't see the photo unless you do a "preview post" (which I'll do before I post so that I can be sure of the photo). Of course you'll see it when you actually post to the thread.

Then, if I want to comment after the photo - I just type.

Hope that helps!

Janet = here's what I do when I want to quote several people.
1) select "quote" on one of the messages you want to quote. Delete the sections of messages I don't want to speak about, leaving the part that is relevant.
2) comment on the quote
3) highlight the original quote starting with the first [ that sits just before QUOTE and ending with the ] that follows /quote. Take a look and you'll see what I mean. Once highlighted, copy (Ctrl-C) and then place your cursor where you want to paste the quote - the paste (Ctrl-V)
4) replace the user name with the person I now want to quote. Be sure to type the name exactly as you see it in the threads (underscores, dashes, etc.). Don't delete anything else BUT the previous name.
5) Scroll down the page you're working on to where you can see previous posted messages - highlight what you want to quote, copy (Ctrl-C), scroll back up to the message you're typing and paste (Ctrl-V). Be sure that you delete the old quote BUT be sure to leave the two [] bracketed QUOTE=name and /quote.
6) Preview my post to be sure that I've done it properly.

I hope that this also makes sense and is useful to you :D

EDITED TO ADD: Janet - please read the next message

I have noticed that when some of you post pictures you can write some text below....followed by another picture, etc. Can anyone tell me how that is done??

the only way I know to do it is to delete portions as you have been doing.

To do the multiple quotes is to do some copying and pasting. For something to appear within quotes you need to add the word QUOTE before and /QUOTE after the text (with [] brackets around each).. sorry I can't think of how to show the whole thing without it suddenly becoming HTML.Maybe if I just try the end quote it will show...
is how the closing one would appear when you are typing.

Edit: Don't ask me why, but every time I try to type that last QUOTE in brackets, it won't go uppercase. Anyway, hope you get the idea.

In each post there is a QUOTE button. You put your mouse cursor over it and press down and voila, magic happens.
