You asked about our sandy, we lost him a year ago this past Decemeber, he was 14 years old and became very ill, wouldn't eat anymore and his kidneys were shutting down. I know many, including you have been through this but you are just never prepared, we still talk about him and still miss him very much. I swore after losing him,  I would not have another furbaby....however, I had a breeder who wanted to place one of her shelties with us as this poor little girl had only bonded with other dogs, so we decided to give it a shot....this poor little girl was terrified of everyone and everything, we tried for almost 7 weeks to bring her around but our home being the hectic place that it was only makeing her worse and she was her on trial basis...unfortunately she had to go back and even though we had her for a short time it was still heartbreaking that we had to let her go. (she is now in a more suited home) Once again, i said no more furbabies......well that didn't last long. My sister came across our now furbaby, i believe rescued from a puppymill, the poor guy came to us smelling like urine and his white fur was yellow.  Oh my gosh DBD, right away this guy took his favorite spot, right beside my chair and even now he sleeps in his bed beside my chair or on my lap, he is almost 4o pounds but I think he figures he is just tiny. He turned a year old this past November and is spoiled, but he is a good boy. The girls say sandy sent him to us because he did so many things that reminded us of sandy, not to mention the moment this guy walked through the door he made himself right at home.  Here are a couple pictures of our new furbaby, Koby.

Your Sandy seems to be a sweet heart...I had a pet, a stray dog rescued by my brother as some vehicle knocked Julie down. She lived with us for 2 years  and passed away last July due to cancer. My brother and me, both of us were of different views, as I was for putting her to sleep, unable to see her go thru the pains. My brother always was of the opinion that we had no right to take her life as it was God who sent her to this earth. So I gave in to my brothers wish. But it was a real ordeal seeing her go thru the pains.

Oh I am sorry to hear about Mr. Sandy and yes, they do stay in our hearts that is for sure. I find I am still talking about my last one and she's been gone 7 years now. It's easier now but I think it's a real tribute to them that we will still always miss them.

I am glad to see you kept the love going with Koby. I bet he considers himself the luckiest dog ever to be at your house. Rescues do seem to have the extra appreciation I think. He looks like a real beauty (if you can say that about male dogs without them getting in a snit) and good for you for giving yourself and him another chance.

It's always hard to lose a pet. I can't think of anything worse, especially when you have to say goodbye and have them put to sleep. I hate that part. But the idea of just not having a pet is even worse. No matter how bad of a day I may have had, when I walk throgh that door all those problems just vanish.

Koby looks terrific. Great looking dog. Saw a man walking his Sheltie today - cute as a button. Enjoy him - seems like Missy Girl likes him too.

Northern, so true...even with all the chaos in our home it  was not the same when sandy was gone. They  know when we are having a bad day and always there to cheer us up.
