Everytime I serve this I get asked for the recipe. It's an old standard but for anyone that hasn't tried it, here it is.
WATER CHESTNUTS
1 C brown sugar
1 C ketchup
2 cans whole water chestnuts
Bacon
Sturdy toothpicks
Wrap water chestnut in 1/3 – ¼ slice of bacon. Secure with a sturdy toothpick.
Cook at 350 for ½ hr.
Drain grease & add sauce mix.
Cook for another ½ hour.
I only use ½ the amount of the sauce. You can substitute teriyaki sauce for the ketchup.
Some people use scallops instead of water chestnuts but I prefer the crunch of the chestnuts.
