Encasing Fridge

Hi,

My hubby and I are embarking on our very first DIY project - encasing our fridge with cabinets. The problem? Neither of us are the 'handy' sort, but can't afford the ready-made cabients and feel doing it ourselves might save a bit of $$$. My questions is: what is the best material to use to create these cabinets? MDF for the strucutre and then nicer wood for the doors? We want to build tall 18"wide cabients along the left hand side and then wider cabients above. Along the right we want to build a high rectangular bar-style table with bar stools? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't know much about building but I know you have to leave a space for air flow around the fridge. If you have a water and ice maker in the fridge have your shut off valve moved to the side cabinet so you don't have to pull the fridge out should you need to turn it off. Good Luck and post a picture when your done.
