Ok, I am trying so hard to plan out this project correctly but I am having a lot of trouble. I have used painter's tape and a laser level to tape out the basics for this project. I have the size of the squares figured out (15") and the spacing in between them (4").
I am confused as to how thick the top and bottom horizontal pieces should be? I have the top chair rail set at 32.5" (it is approx. 1.5" thick) and I would like to add another small piece of quarter etc. approx. 3/4" below that.
Can anyone help me determine what these measurements shoudl be? I have searched throguth old threads but can't seem to find the answer to my question.
TIA.

that you have not got a response to your dilemna. I would take the 32.5 - the 15" = 16.5 and work with that number to determine how to divide the upper and lower portions of the wall. A piece of graph paper to map it out might just help with the proportions. Don't forget to exclude the baseboards in the 32.5"
The upper piece should be less that the lower piece. Think of a mat on a piece of art. The lower band of the mat is always larger so the artwork does not look like it is slipping out of the frame.
Good luck!
I would really appreciate any/all help! I was hoping to get my project started this weekend.
