A funny find in my basement!

I was digging around the basement for some cushions and in a box found a very pleasant surprise! tucked away in a xmas box were the two pots that had my amarylius in them last xmas. I was lazy and didn't dump the dead flowers and just tucked the whole pot, dead flowers and all into a box thinking that i'd just dump them out next winter when I got new amarylius bulbs.
Well they had started growing again in the box! I planted them in my front flower bed. I wonder how they'll do?

They're growing! How exciting. They are such a beautiful flower aren't they? I wonder if it will bloom again at xmas if i let it dry out again in the fall? Maybe that wouldn't be enough time?

I retreived my dumped amaryllis out of the dark garage last November. Started to water it and in no time did the lime green new shoots appear.

I had long green leaves in December and by early January it bloomed.

I then retired it back into a brown paper bag where it currently rests until fall:)

Talk about an easy plant - and a beauty - worth the money if the bulbs keep on giving during the winter doldrums:)
