For fun I thought I may try and grow ginger from a root I bought at the grocery store. I started one and it is budding slightly. I just covered it with 1/4" of damp soil. Not too much water as it will rot.
This is a photo of 4 months growth and I hope mine takes off soon.

Never thought of growing ginger...........looks like an interesting plant even if it doesn't yield any ginger........I wonder if it multiplies like potatoes........have you done any research on it?
