You type in your zone and sun or shade plants and it will give you a list.
Vinca minor 'Illumination'
Common name : Variegated Periwinkle
Also known as Myrtle. Periwinkle is probably the most popular evergreen groundcover, forming a dense mat. This exciting selection has bright golden-yellow leaves edged in green, studded with blue flowers in spring. Tolerates dry shade once plants are established. Stems root into the ground readily. Mowing the patch low after blooming every couple of years will help to keep it thick and weed resistant. Plant 4 to 10 plants per square yard.
Astilbe - it is a lovely plant that loves shade and sends up plumes of flowers, is pretty compact and not invasive. :)
thank you everyone! great ideas i will use them all(flowers!!) that is .
My absolute favourite summer flowers are impatiens. They come in lots of beautiful colours, don't require dead-heading, they get bigger and bushier as the summer goes on, and they bloom constantly.
And, they do best in shade :)
one of my favorite shade plants is sweetwoodruff. it doesn't bloom all summer long but it's a gorgeous plant that adds visual interest to the garden. it blooms in the spring for about 2-3 weeks and smells wonderfully of sweet vanilla. because i love it, it's a bonus that it spreads quickly.
The best flowering plant I have seen that doesn't need alot of light is a begonia you can get them in a low plant or a taller one and they do flower all summer with beautiful colours. If you get the tublar begonia you can dig them up each winter and replant them next year. Hosta's are a great shade plant they don't flower much but have beautiful coloured leaves and come in hundreds of different shapes and sizes.
