Help needed with ideas for L-Shaped living and dining room

gandmaya's picture

Hi All, I really need your help. We are renovating our home and I need some fresh inspiration/ideas. It all started with the kitchen which will have white, flat panel, high gloss cabinetry with a grey quartz countertop. The doors are from , just so you have an idea. So we are going quite contemporary.  Our living and dining room, which is L-shape will open to the kitchen (from the dining room).  Here are the dimensions of the room. There is a wall with windows (there are 3 windows) which is 204 inches. The opposite wall is 91 inches. There is a long wall, with a fire place, which continues into the dining room is 371 inches (there is also a 53 inch window in there, 210 inches in) . The back ldining room wall is 114 inches. The other wall will not be there as it will open up onto the kitchen). I hope my dimensions make sense. We will be getting a natural gas insert for the old wood fireplace and will be clading it with another product (either bork or spalt). The floor will be oak or something similar. I will go with either a white of grey paint and a clean line sofa. My husband likes very contemporary but I would like to warm it up a bit, so I would like some organic touches. So, my question for your wonderful people is....1. Furniture placement for the L-shape 2. Furniture suggestions (I know, hard if you don't know me...but throw anything out there) 3. Paint suggestions 4.Window treatment (we like the three big windows, no view, just suburban houses, but wouldn't mind some privacy) and, finaly, 5. Built-ins on either side of the fireplace or not? I was thinking something floating, floating shelves and then floating cabinet. I don't know. As you can see, I am a confused and overwhelmed person :)ANY help/assistance would be so appreciated. Thanks :)
