a hobby of mine

thanks to Oreokitty's fab find, I've been inspired to share some photos I took at the cottage. I love taking pictures, it really relaxes me and I enjoy viewing them long after they've been taken. Photography affects me like music, it exudes feeling and invigorates the senses. I haven't pursued this hobby any further than just snapping shots and compiling large files on my computer:D My cam. is nothing fancy but it has enough capabilities to take some interesting shots. I wish I had more time to explore the manual settings but that takes tonnes of trial and error and I spend enough time with the 10 or so pre-set 'modes' it has as it is. Here are some of my favourites..

Indigo, your pictures are fabulous!!!

I especially love the first one on the top left-hand corner, the one that has the pine branch peeking out with the cloudy sky. When I look at it I think of the calm before the storm.
I hope that you get to display some of your work because it would be a shame to keep that talent under wraps in a photo album ;)

Jeep, it is a 256 mb card. The only time we ran out of room was when we went to New Orleans for two weeks and hit Graceland on the way home.:) We had to go through them and erase some for Elvis:D
Can you still get this model? I thought it was no longer being made. I don't even want to look and see what it would sell for now...eeeshhhh...

Hello Fashionista and welcome:), Tobermory is my favourite place to go and relax. We have been going there since I was born, it is a second home to me:)

Those are very nice pictures from tobermory, we enjoy going there too when the weather is nice during the summer.

Hello to everyone on the forum, looking forward to getting to know everyone, and picking your brains on different matters.

this is the leafy part of the plant. bugs fall into the pitcher shaped leaves and the hairs inside point downward preventing the bug to climb out. The leaves fill with water during rainfalls and drown the bugs as well. Then the nutrients are sucked out of it...horrible way to go I must say!

thanks for the kind words:) I must give the digital camera most of the credit. When its in a preset mode it is hard to mess up a picture. The photos that I took with my old camera were terrible. With the technology available to the public today anyone can take good pictures:) My cam is about 3 years old. Its a Nikon Coolpix 4300. Kinda ticks me off when I think I can get a much better camera now for the same price! Still, this one suits my purposes. I can take extreme close ups and they turn out incredibly clear. I've attached the pitcher plant. Sarcarenia purpurea purpurea (sp?) This flower grows EVERYWHERE near my grandfathers cottage. It is very rare and requires very special conditions to grow. I love it, it is a carnivorous plant and very unusual.

Reginagirl, I love taking pictures of animals as well. I haven't had too much luck with wildlife yet though:)

Amy, if only those misty ones were just 'morning' shots! That week we had rain and fog for many days. but atleast it was an interesting backdrop for some pictures:)

3blackcats, I hate to say it but i'm brutal when it comes to printing pictures...never mind enlarging and framing!lol I am yet to print but ONE, I usually share online with friends. It would be a good idea to compile a disk of really good ones and get them printed...one of these days:)

the first batch is the flower part..and my doggie in the field of them.

No wonder you find it relaxing taking pictures when you have scenery like that to take it is so peaceful looking. Very nice pictures do you have any enlarged and hanging in your house. My DIL takes beautiful photos as well and has them in her office and gets people asking all the time where she bought them.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing those.
They would be very suitable to be enlarged and framed :) I've done that with some of my travel shots and it blows peoples minds, but of course I only use the good ones for public viewing :)

I love the misty morning ones. Reminds me of the cottage in Algonquin Park when I was a kid. The sunsets are gorgeous! :D
Now I want spring to get here even quicker!

I wish I could take pics half that good. I really stink at it :D

ex used to take some beautiful pictures as well. We are animal lovers so most of ours had a pet or wild animal in them.
