I like the blue.
Thanks everyone for your input! I appreciate it! :-)
Congrats on the new home. I agree as well about cutting down the trees/shrubs. It also looks like you have a huge deck out the front, probably to see the water at the front of the house. To be more appealing, I think the deck needs to look more like a front porch instead of a back yard deck. Maybe a pergola type top with some vines/ivy/clematis growing up it might help. Possibly with large round columns holding it up. It is hard to tell, maybe once the trees, etc. are gone you could post another picture.
I also thought of shutters on the windows. I could only see the right side ones clear and figure there is enough room for shutters but not sure about the left side.
Paint Brush Patty mentioned about the lawn area between the road and the stone wall and I agree that that has to be cleaned up a bit. Get rid of all vegetation and put in riverrocks or do some riverrocks/stones and maybe some flower beds with Yucca plants or something that tolerates dryness.
Send us updates when you can.
I agree with the landscaping hiding the house. Start by trimming up (saving money)everything quite a bit. If it is still too much then pull it out and start over.
I agree about eliminating the front shrubbery. I'd leave some, of course, but more pruned. What about putting river rock on the areas that are overgrown by the roadside? It looks like it might be a difficult area to maintain?
I'd bring the eye up and around your steps to your home by lining it somehow...perhaps a rock garden feel to repeat the river rock (if you like that idea).
Congratulations on your new home! :)
first thing i would do is get rid of those trees covering up your house. to much planting in my opinion is ugly, especially if it hides your house. i'd put one small tree further away from your house and some flowers, but not to much.
as for the color of your house, i like the blue, but if i had to change it, i'd choose some kind of beige color to make it look like stucco.
