Hello, this is my first time chatting so bare with me.
My front steps are a mess, the prev. owner laid interlock by themselves and now they are sloped, wobbley; the sand behind them is washing away with every rain fall. I can't afford too much, I can't afford not to fix this big problem. Any Help or info would be much appreciated !!! Glenna

That's pretty much all there is to it and it really isn't that difficult. Depending on how high the finished steps can go, you might have to dig a little of the earth out from under them to leave enough room for the sand but it is important to have an inch or so of the sand under the stones and make sure they are level.
Good luck.
Hello,
Are your steps supported with wood structure or just laid on top of one another? If they are supported ok, could you take the stones out one by one, setting them off to the side as they were laid on the step, ( so you know how they fit back on the step later ) and buy some packing sand at the home center, and start over. I think you put a smooth base of sand not too deep, but to level out things below, and firmly set the stones back in, once laid again, pour lots of sand on top and with your hand rub back and forth oner the stones, so the sand fills in all the cracks. ?????
Hope this helps,,,, a bit!
