Call me crazy....but my DD's carpeted bedroom was a mess. I decided to rip the carpet out, and found leaded paint (2 layers) on the border of the room, linoleum pieces and tar and then a final coat of shellac around the edges. I didn't give up. I used a chemical paint remover and a heat gun (fully suited with a respirator), carefully discarding all remnants of the paint, then I was ready to sand. I rented a monster sander and did it!
The original floor boards are pine tongue and groove. After cleaning them off, I used SamaN Walnut Stain, then applied three layers of their Extreme top coat. I did it!:confetti:
So we moved her furniture back in, and not much floor is showing....ugggggg

what a nice surprise to have found such beautiful floors hidden, you did an amazing job refinishing them, that would indeed be a very hard job but so worth the end results. Good for you and your DD's bedroom is lovely!!! :clapping:

Thank you for your nice comments!
I have two more bedrooms to do (but will give it a little bit of a break for now), then the house will be carpet free! :clapping:
That is amazing! It is so exciting to find such hidden treasures in old houses. That is why I love older homes. You did a fantastic job and the room looks beautiful. Even though the floor is mostly covered with furniture, you know that it is clean and fresh, even under the bed!
Excellent job. It looks great as does your DD's room! Did you refinish the rest of the house as I have noted whoever rewired did a good job with lots of electrical outlets. The final result was well worth the effort!!
OMG these are the inspiring threads that we need. Now, if you can somehow bottle up and ship off some of that energy then I will most definitely buy it so that I can do the same in our bedrooms.:D
The hard work was certainly worth the effort. Looks fantastic.
Well even if you did have to move furniture back in, it was a job that was worth it. You did a great job and kudos for putting in all the work.
WOW!!!What a difference...you have to be so pleased with all of your hard work because it turned out soooo....nice.DD must be very happy with her beautiful room.Sarah Richardson would be very impressed:)
