Darker color cabinets looks better with the appliances. You might want to 'cover' the floor with a more updated rug as well.
The original looks very dated. My choice of your pics would be the black. I can see that looking almost "romantic" if you added a splash of bright colour and possibly a bright green plant in the corner. My favourite is the darker brown that dustbunny pictured. It looks clean and crisp as a kitchen should.
I just tiled the backsplash with these mosaic tiles and now I need to paint the cabinets.

They are currently "Golden Oak" and I don't know whether to take them dark, light, or in between.

Thanks :)
I recommed you to keep brown color. It looks good out of all.The main problem with white is the stain marks or dust accumulated will be more prevalent on white coating, and with Black it abosrbs heat generated in the kitchen.

btw, how did you change the color on the cabints? i mean which software did you use.
tnx
working in a design company, i have learned that brown is much popular than black and it give a modern look to anyroom. so i vote for dark brown.
I dunno. Maybe I have no sense of style.
But, in my honest opinion, the "Before" picture actually looks the nicest.
Maybe get a more colourful dish towel to hang on your oven door handle and call it "done".
But, what do I know. I woulda chose a polka dot design.
It's been over a month now Roxy - so what did you decide? Inquiring minds need to know.
I'd most likely go with the darker brown.
Have you gotten any closer to a paint colour decision, roxymaniac? I'm so keen on seeing what you went with! Keep us posted. :)
I'm not liking the brown at all, I think it makes it look dated. I prefer the black (or actually a grey-black or black-brown, a true black might be a bit much), makes the whole kitchen look more sophisticated and modern. I love white kitchens but I'm not liking it with the modern-looking stainless steel appliances and tile.
I love the darker brown, looks crisp and current. Hope it goes well with whatever you choose!

Please, not white...is there grey in those tile? I think some variation of grey might be good as it would be good with the fridge etc and would not be too dark. I like the brown but think it is too dark. Would love to see what you do when finished. What colour is the floor? It looks green in photo but suspect it is more like marble....
I'd vote for brown too (or maybe even a grey brown) but darker than you've already gone. I'd go at least as dark as the darkest tile or even a shade or two more than that and if you added some stainless or nickel shade hardware you'd tie your appliances in too. I tried a mock up and also painted out that upper wall a little lighter than the cabinets but I think you could use the same colour right to the ceiling.
a darker brown
Brown for me too.
I like the brown as long as it isn't too dark.
Brown would be my first choice followed by the white. No combo 4 me.
Thanks!
Another option is a combination:

My favorite is white.
