Long Hallway that Has Low Loft

We live in a converted small barn. The hallway runs the whole length of the house from front door to back. The problem is that we have a loft that is just as long that runs along the top of the wall. Too low for living but we use it for storage.  Have for the past years used painted lattice to cover it in. Then I tried curtains from some fabric I had. Only a few made and put up  but it doesn`t look right either. Plain off white. You really need pictures to understand this one. Thanks so much for any help

When I've seen this in buildings I've been in, there'll typically be offices in the loft area of the building, and there will be windows in the space you're covering with curtains.  Since the windows don't need to keep out the heat or cold, or even open, you could perhaps make windows with salvage glass and wood window stop moldings.
