miniature roses are hardier than most. I planted my miniature rose bush in the ground last fall and was given the following recommendations:
cut back any new growth before the winter, pile up about 6+ inches of compost around the roots and depending on your zone cover for winter.
I put mulch around it as well to provide it with extra protection for the winter.
I also have a rose bush I bought during the summer and haven't planted it yet.
I was told by the nursery to plant it in the fall when it is cooler, not in the heat of summer.
Thanks so much..... I'll plant it this weekend!
I have rec'd 3 of them as gifts over the years and plant them in the garden around now. It is not too late. I leave them and next spring trim all the canes back to about 4" and every one has come back bushier and bloomed. :)
