Hello,
I would like to paint the inside of my front entrance door to our condo a dark brown/black color (BM Bittersweet Chocolate #2114-10) and then install mirrors on both doors. I have seen this done and like the look to brighten and enlarge the entrance.
What size would you recommend I make the mirrors? The doors are each 30”. I was thinking that likely 5 – 6 “ border all around would be enough of the dark color, so that would make a mirror of 18 – 20” wide.
What do you think? Should I bevel the mirrors? I appreciate your help.

I think you have already plenty of mirrors there and i wouldn't put them on the doors, if you need a seating place, you can replace the the sideboard with the bench and take away the chair.

Wow!!! You have all provided lots of things to think about and many good ideas.
First of all, there is no problem with the inside of the door with the 'common property' rules, so no permission is required.
I also was leaning toward the beveled edge mirror, but had not considered a smokey shade at all, but will check. I may even consider just painting the door the Bittersweet Chocolate color to start with and see how it looks. I can always add the mirrors later anytime. I could also change the mirror doors on the closet to plain solid doors. I know it is a lot of mirror, but that is sort of the theme. I want to make the entrance sparkle.
I like the idea of a bench instead of the chair. The small 9 drawer cabinet will stay since it is a new find and I really like it for the storage of keys, mitts, scarves, etc.
So now I have some choices and decisions to make.

You could also think of wallpaper on the doors and or in the entry space :
I like the chest of drawers in the entry especially for storage but in this case I think the best choice would be a combo of drawers and a bench peice of furniture. Similar to a writing desk where you give up some space in order to slide a chair - I think that would be most practical.
Now for the entry doors - I am tossing the idea around of keeping the existing doors but fancy them up. Why not have someone apply some wood work with pieces of mirror to create a set of mirrored French doors.
I think that idea would look grand and incorporate some mirror. I don't know if that could be done.

instead of the traditional row of squares mirrored planes you could do the swirly curved wood design with mirror.
You often see dining room sideboards or chests with that look. I know I have seen pics here of it.:)

I have to say that I agree with Mrs. Fancy. I think it may be too much of a good thing.
what are those mirros on the left side - is it your mirrored closet doors?
if yes, then i think you have already plenty of mirrors there and i wouldn't put them on the doors,
if you need a seating place, you can replace the the sidbeoard with the bench and take away the chair.
If you decide to do it beveled edges are the classiest ways to go and maybe consider them in a bronze tint. Clear works too but the smoked grey might make it too dark.
On question for you though - are doors a part of the common elements? If so you might have to get permission.
Maybe a small bench so you have somewhere to throw your purse when putting on your shoes/boots.

I had thought of that also, but have no kids around and the door closes softly with the spring hinges. I had thought I might replace the chair with a decorative vase or something less likely to bump the door.

Call me old fashioned but I really like mirrored doors.
I like your idea in theory but not sure I would do it, I would be afraid of smashing something up against the mirror or something.
I think your sizing sounds about right, I prefer the look of beveled but I think it's a personal preference thing.
