:hairpull: Well ladies i am wondering if anyone knows if any of the climbing( omg can't spell climbing, is that right?) vines you mentioned are more prone to swarms of mosquitos than others. As the deck will be 8 feet off the ground screening will be a problem because of winds etc.

Sweetpe, it is a little early for the clematis to bloom I think. We will probably get the honey suckle, on your recommendation. :)
Flowerpot.
I have 2 honeysuckles one on each end of the fence and a clematis in the middle....still no blooms on either one :)
I received this via e-mail from a friend. To kill mosquitos put Listerines in a spray bottle and spray around your picnic table, your chairs and any place outside that they are around. Also sprqy around your doors and windows and they won't be around at all. Apparently it kill them all. My friend and her friends say that it works every time, and it is cheap too and last for at lest four days. They buy the Listerine at Costco and claim is much cheaper than the bug spray that only lasts a few hours.
Good spraying Zella
I will post a pic tomorrow as it is dark now :) The honeysuckle is growing very nicely but does not have any blooms yet. :)
I have heard that they don't like the scent of lavender. It may be worth trying.
Sweetpea, yes please post photos of the honeysuckle vine because I have seen them for sale but I've never seen them growing anywhere.
If you all hate mosquitoes as much as I do, apparently if you keep a bounce sheet in your pocket, they are less attracted to you. I havent tried it yet, heard on the radio. Just thought it was worth mentioning. :)
Thanks for the info sweetpea. I was wondering if you could post a picture of the vines. Are they in bloom yet? Another plant we are thinking of , is spirea, the white blooms. Only problem is they bloom for such a short time, they are one of my favorites though.

Flowerpot ...No I have clematis ...virginia creeper and honeysuckle....they are not prone to mosquitos, the honeysuckle attracts hummingbirds and of course bees. :)
