sorry - I haven't been on the site for a while :) I love callas! I used them in my wedding bouquet:) I'm glad you figured out that they were callas and not lily of the valley's :) How pretty the yellow ones are too!

again....just stunning......about the shed, we will NEVER like it...first of all, we put it next to the fence where the neighbour's pool equipment is, hoping to deaden some of the noise. Well that didnt work, and its in a really stupid place. I did mention to hubby that we disassemble it and put it around the side of the yard we dont see, you can imagine what he said to THAT!!! OMG, would think I suggested selling my firstborn. Anyways, we will try to cover it with greenery and trellises, not much else we can do...its just PLAIN UGLY!!!!

I had white ones in May, you might have missed that pic, I'll post it again for you as you are thinking of getting some next year. Sorry to hear about the shed, maybe after a while you'll get used to it, it always workes like that, I hated my kitchen cabinets in february and now I dont't mind them anymore or maybe I realized how much work it would be to repaint!!! (haha)

Like I said, this is the first year we have calla lilies, we had at least 2 years nothing but leaves and it is so exciting to finally see that beautiful bloom. Like I mentioned before, we moved in this house about one year ago, started with an empty grassy area. We had no professional help but my DH is very talented and crafty. We were able to move allmost all our plants from the other place, we lived there for 17 years and had quite a mature garden. Our property and all the neighbouring houses were used for a new townhouse site and we got salvage rights, it worked out great, almost all the plants, shrubs and apple tree survived the move - was lots of work-! I'm not really good at giving people advice on gardening, still learning myself but I' m happy to share.

I can never remember if I'm in zone 4 or 5. I think I might be right on the border of the two. I guess I just assumed that seeing as a store in our area was selling calla bulbs, that they'd be OK in gardens here. Guess not!!

On the other hand, that's what I was told about blue hydrangeas, and my two plants are on the verge of blooming -- I originally bought them as houseplants, and they spent their first winter outside this year. I hope this year isn't a fluke and they keep growing :)

I don't know what zone you are in but callas only over winter outside in warnmer garden zones. I have planted them inside in pots before, but they died after 2 years. I love them too.

I LOVE calla lilies, and yours are SO beautiful!! I just bought a potted calla on Tuesday and planted it today. I hope it blooms -- it's got two large leaves and a few leaf shoots at the moment. I think when fall comes, I'll dig up the bulb and keep it in the house over the winter -- I planted some calla bulbs 2 years ago, got a ton of leaves last year, and nothing this year :( I guess the winter was too cold for it.

what a gorgeous lily...you must spend so much time in your garden for it to look that perfect. i am soooo envious. we "inherited" a front and back garden when we bought our house this past fall and i am ready to tear it all up and start from scratch. problem is i know NOTHING about garden plants or garden design...wanna come over and help me??? anyways, your garden truly is an inspiration. great work!!!

they are so perfect they hardly look real. Lisi a photo of those could be used as art. I know I would love it.
I have day yellow lillies and tigers. I planted some red oriental lily bulbs but only few small leaves so far. Maybe next year as plant gets bigger I will have a show of red.

How exciting for you. I remember when I had the first ones out this year, that was in May and now I have some more blooming, they are yellow, I understand mine are Callas, this is the first time they produced flowers and they are gorgeous to look at. Looking forward to your pic soon.

I hope my canna comes up soon - I also don't even have a stalk! New leaves are still coming up though, and it is in a container, so it may take a little longer. I noticed my other lilies took a little longer to bloom compared to ground planted lilies in the area.

i have lots of tiger lilies and day lilies in bloom but FINALLY the canna has orange blooms...at least the green leaved one does, the red leaved one has no blooms yet or even the stalk...had to replace them this year cause I listened to bad advice from Mother in Law and left the bulbs in all winter...she forgot when she had cannas, she lived in BC :(
