Hi, I’m new here. I need some advise how to discuss warrant with contractor.
I’m planning open a side entrance of my house. I contacted a contractor, and visited one of his work, and I’m satisfied with his work. I’m going to sign contract with him.
As I discuss warrant with him, he refuses to accept my proposal. My proposal is break down warrant into three items:
1. Material warrant, the warrant period is what he can get when he buy the material. He accepted this, but he said this will not include labour.
2. Work warrant one year, this covers if he did not do something properly, something wrong happen in one year, he need re-do his work. He refused to accept this.
3. Structural warrant one year, this one is what I concerned most. What I’m worried about is during his work, if any structural damage on my house, he should be responsible for it. He said, his work will strictly following the building code, and city inspector will monitor his work. Should not have any structural damage. If there is any structural damage, city should be responsible for it.:confused:
I need some opinion if my warrant proposal is reasonable? Should I sign contract with him?
