I have a feeling that you have a great garden to go with your obviously evergreen thumb. How about some pictures?

As for those pic's...just had to move all my hosta's -temporarily so they don't get crushed when removing a couple of large trees on the bank of our hill. It has taken me all morning to get a couple of shovels out of the shed as I have a couple of birds living in there...the traffic has been a challenge. They have moved into my hand spreader after we left the doors open. That is what happens when you clean out your shed and paint the floor... turning it from emergency shelter only to luxury condo...I know they have a few relatives in there now...Are you anywhere near the flooding I saw on the news last week...are your gardens Ok? Another bump!

Thanks for your kind words about my fair city. We do have a long winter here, but I have always lived here so it is no surprise to me to see snow in November!

Kananaskis is a big park, but I do not know how large it is, sorry. There are hotels (your partner must be going to the conference centre for his meetings) and many campgrounds. There are great hiking trails and intrepretive facilities. It will make you love your country more, it is so beautiful!

You will not find much in the way of shopping there, but Canmore is nearby and the main street of Canmore has quite a few quaint shops and nice restaurants. Banff is only 20 minutes from Canmore and has tons of nice shops and restaurants, but also TONS of people! Where ever you are in the area, you only need to look up for a breath taking view of the mountains!

I am sure you will really enjoy your visit and will wish it was longer!

Thanks, I'm feeling a bit better today, it's awful to be sick on such beautiful summer days. Anyhow, I totally share the love of montains with you, actually I grew up surrounded by the swiss alps, then lived and worked for year in a Zermatt, maybe you are familiar with the famous Matterhorn, there is apparently a very similar looking peak around BC/Alberta. I'll find the older I get the more I miss the mountains, really would like to live very near them again. Yes, the trip up to Whistler is gorgeous, in the spring we go there and pick our moos for the baskets along that road side.

Too bad, Lisi...what an awful time to be sick....we've had a bone-aching, sinus type and coughing cold going thru our house. Speaking of "cold", Dreamer..I was in Edmonton in Nov 2 or 3rd last year and you already had snow!!! I hadn't been there for years and WOW has it changed...so much bigger and looked so clean -the Christmas lights were even up! Impressive...Do you notice how huge your sky is??? Has anyone ever noticed that? Lisi, I will never get over my first trip to BC. We drove from Vancouver to Whistler on the Sea to Sky hwy. I have a serious "mountain addiction" now. Do you ever get used to the absolute beauty of the mountains, trees and water? It takes me weeks to get over it ...As soon as I land in TO everything seems black and white and very flat...my garden looks pathetic and small. I do look at an escarpment (the Niagara) which is lovingly called the "Hamilton mountain" and I do live in a valley which is more like a pot hole (in BC terms)....You will notice I mentioned "my garden" as to stay with the general theme of the forum. Dreamer, how big is Kannanaskis? I have only driven past it I think ...Hub is having summer meetings there this year but we will be going to Banff for a day and then to Calgary for 2 days. Norm

I must have heard you talking about me! I've been in bed for almost 3 days, bad case of strange summer flu. When I get better I'll make an album of my garden.

I could see mountains, but I am in Edmonton, so, alas, cannot. I can drive west for an hour and a half or so and start to see some peaks...

I feel lucky to live near enough to the mountains to be able to see them often. You are right, they are spectacular and Kannanaskis is BEAUTIFUL. My partner's brother lives in Canmore and, so far, it is still somewhat reasonable to stay there, in the midst of the mountains with Kannanaskis and Banff only a heart beat away. We happily visit that brother often, and not just because he and his wife are so charming!

I know you are going to enjoy your trip. If you want to know where to go to get good coffee or where to shop, etc...while in the area, just ask.

mountains from where you live?...not to pry or anything but I noticed you are from Alberta. I will be in Kanninaski (spelling?) in about 3 weeks. I think I would even trade Lisi's garden, baskets and all for a real mountain around here. Last year we drove from Whistler to Kelowna and on to Calgary in August. We saw just how bad those fires were, driving thru smoke most of the way. I guess this could sound pretty dumb as Alberta covers quite an area...but you are right, we aren't marked on this stuff! would reasonably expect the rest of us to have blooms like Lisi! I do the best I can here in Zone 3/4. And none of us hold misspellings against each other (it is a decorating forum, not your thesis!). So, now that you have the size thing figured out, clean up your mess and get snapping!

Maybe I should ask more nicely. Please. Pretty please.

I like to give that impression! But I was the goof who couldn't spell "landscaping" in my first posting- came out like landsaping! (hope it is gone) and then spent another 1/2 day attempting to post a pic- which I now know was too big! We are about to remove 2 large trees on the edge of our property which overlooks a ravine...when I get that mess cleaned up, I will try posting a pic..., can't compete with those BC gardens, eh!???
