I am in the beginning stages of removing layers of paint from a bedroom set. The wood type is unknown. My dad bought the set when he first moved out of home some 40 years ago. He painted it black at the time, since then it has had many colors added on top.
I have successfully removed most of the paint from the bedside tables, I am just begining the sanding process.
My neighbor came over and suggested that I take the two big dressers to a sandblaster - and either sandblast it myself or have them sandblast it for me(this may be cheaper in the long run, b/c I have used two cans of remover on the two smallest pieces, I can only imagine how many cans it will take for the larger pieces!)
Has anyone had anything sandblasted b4? Would you recommend it? Is it safe for wood?
I will be staining the wood "almost black" once the layers of paint have been removed.
