Painting standard vinyl french doors black?

I would love to paint my standard vinyl french doors black or dark blue.  How would this look with the white mullions/grills?  Do you think I could pull it off if they were still white?  If so, what kind of paint would you recommend for this type of surface?

Painting your French doors black would look really striking, and a lot of House & Home spaces sport that look. (I just did it in my place and it looks amazing! The wall around the doors is white.)

As for the mullions, if you can paint them, do, but if they're the type that are embedded in the glass, design editor Joel Bray thinks it would be okay to leave them white. Just be sure to keep the moulding/frame immediately around the mullions white if this is the case, and then paint the rest of the door black.

Mrs. Peacock has some good points about the paint -- I wish I had gotten mine professionally done as it was tricky and I got some primer on the weatherstripping, etc. I'd talk to your local paint store about the best product for the job.

Post a photo once it's done!
