We are fixing our flashing around our upper door and some of the siding will be damaged. We are trying to decide if we should buy the same siding (siding has faded so we need to buy enough for all the front) or do the front only in a differnt color and sytle all together. I really like the vinyl cedar shake style in a clay color. Please help me decide if this will look okay being so different from the rest of the house. The deck is going to be painted white with a glass front.
Thanks so much for your help.

The old siding is 6 years old. If the whole side is replaced with the same material, I don't think you would notice a big difference from the sides but if a few peices were replaced, it would likely take several years before it would blend together. The trim also needs replaced as they just used pine board. I like the idea of the wide trim so I'm looking for a low maintance trim in a similar sytle.
How old is the original siding? I wonder how long the new siding would take to fade and look like the original?
The siding is more of a green color. It's called Mist Green by Mitten Vinyl.
Thanks!
I agree with sweatpea3 I am not sure how the gray would look with the clay. Perhaps a dark gray colour would blend better.
Hi Lakefront;I think the cedar would look very good but just not sure of the clay shade with the grey ...Maybe dark brown shakes or what about ( if possible ),fieldstone on the bottom & cedar shakes on the top.I imagine the cost would be more for either fieldstone or some other type of brick or stone but would look awesome.:)
