Hi everyone! We are still thinking of building. I started to work on a scrap book for all the features I want in our new home! I like the Brian Gluckstein's idea of making your doors look higher. What I want to know is did he beef up the top moulding to make it appear higher or did he use taller doors?? I remember reading it somewhere, but can't find it... Maybe you can help. Thanks everyone!

BJDec, I have never thought of transoms. I like that idea... I'll put that one in my scrap book. Thank you.
I think there are several ways to add height to a door. You could add bigger moldings and cornices at the top, or use transoms, or larger doors. I think the larger doors would be the most expensive as they are likely more of a custom product. Transoms would allow light to pass through and the moldings would add the architectural interest. I guess it depends on the look you are after.
