what a great way to store stuff! I get all these magazines from work that are supposrd to help keep me educated in my field but often there are only a few good articles. Have been tearing then out so i wouldn't have to keep the whole thing, but it's even worse. My next project - scan & save what's useful & throw out the rest. Tks!
Hey, I just got back from there, found clear plastic magazine holders made by Rubbermaid. They're exactly what I was looking for ...
My husband has built us a corner unit that used to just be for magazines. Just deep and wide enough for them to be stacked binder out for easy access, newest on top of course. Adjustable shelves altered as certain subs' grew and others weren't of any use.
But we now have a new home computer mounted like a picture frame in this corner unit and use it as our office. Hence, the need to purge. Heartbreaking and liberating. Most went down to our building library, after I scanned what I wanted and filed it accordingly in the computer. I'm now hooked on this method of storage. No longer do I spend hours devouring piles of mags looking for a recipe or a fav. snap of a room etc. It's only a file name away and printed off only to be printed again. Want to share it, pull it up and print or e-mail it. Fast and clutter free.
I've bought some pretty trunks from Winners and store them there.
my mother used to organize all of her magazines but using oversized binders, and those plastic things that go across the centerfold, with ring-holes on the other side. That way, you can label the binders by year or title, or whatever
I like everything looking neat and uncluttered, so....I use the white plastic shoe cabinets from Ikea. They're on page 228 of their catalog if you have it. Each drawer can hold about 40 magazines. They stay non-dusty and out of sight. I love them!
i have some of those wooden ones from IKEA - about 25 of them and thats still not enough
I usually buy one everytime i go - which is like 2x a month
more economical that way
besides those i just use the simple white cardboard ones
i have way too many magazines like way too many
I have a few hard plastic file holders that you are welcome to if you are still interested. These are the ones used in filing rooms that can hold up to 4" of magazines &/or files. They can hang from a rail or just place flat on a shelf. I used them to hold my knitting books in order.
I need some better solutions
I currently keep mine on my IKEA "Billy" bookcase, in cardboard magazine holders. I'm looking to upgrade my holders as I've been accessing my back issues, however, I'm not fond of anything IKEA has to offer. (Plus, I think they're a tad overpriced.)
Any storage suggestions?
