I noticed Stainless Steel Flatwear on the homepage today, and I thought I would ask if this has happened to anybody.
I began my married life with a set of 12 placesettings of Oneida SS flatwear. Nineteen years of marriage and 2 kids (under age 11) later, I'm left with this:
12 knives
10 large spoons
8 large forks
9 teaspoons
6 small forks
Now how does that happen???
I guess a few could have sneaked off with packed lunches. I know the sink drain does not allow any cutlery to pass down through the holes, and I seriously doubt the dishwasher ate the missing pieces. I have a theory that paper napkins somehow play a role, in that the used napkins are laid across leftovers on the plate, and DH likely just tips the lot into the garbage bin without either looking for a hidden utensil or responding to the sound of a clunk or thud it might make upon landing. (I always look under the paper napkin. He's insulted I could suggest he may be involved at all, lol)
Has this happened to you? I keep ranting we are going to adopt a weekly cutlery count if I ever get around to that day when I replace the entire set. It will happen on the evening before garbage day.
