This example may be where the adjective stinking comes from when used with rich. Can you imagine paying a couple of million for a fully furnished vacation home just to tear the whole thing down to build again. In this case the house was >5000 sq. ft,, stone, brick, all landscaped - totally finished. All the appliances, as well as everything else, was top of the line. This was on a waterfront lot but only in the sense that the land went right to the shore. It was a huge drop from the home to the shore. You may be thinking that it's all the best but how old was it? To me, this is the stinking part - three years old. I saw the photos and this was a beautiful vacation getaway. Heck, by my standards this would have been a dream home. It looked liked something out of a lottery. Guess someone wanted to be king of the castle up on this view point. I need to insert an icon of a head shaking in disbelief.

There was a home on the lake at home that was bought for about $500K they spent another $500K redoing the house and as soon as it was done they tore it down and rebuilt a $1.5M house and as soon as that was done they split and she ended up with the house.I think it must of been her plan all along.
How big do houses have to get? I find homes are getting larger and larger all of the time. At one time I did like larger homes but once you live in one you realize what a waste. People don't need 5000+sq ' to live.
The tearing down and rebuilding is okay if the house is a wreck but otherwise what a waste of natural resources and space in the dump. Our landfills are full to capacity and this trend is no where in sight about to slow down. People who like to throw money around should send it to a charity.

I have seen it happen so many times, the street my grandparents live on has it happen all the time, Every time a house goes up for sale a wreaking crew moves in... LOL its a shame to, the houses that they rip down are great 50s houses that are so well built. So wastful
that is horrible and certainly fits the term "STINKING rich" i just couldnt even imagine it.

Well apparently they don't mind paying whatever it takes just to get the lot. I watched the same sort of thing go on at least 3 times in 5 years (on a smaller scale) in the house I used to live next door to. High end everything, basically new, gone with each new owner. They just want it the way they want it regardless of the waste or paying too much for the privelage.
Sure be nice to have that sort of money to throw around when you wanted and not even feel a twinge of guilt (I can't stand that sort of waste so I am not sure I'd ever lose the guilt part). I guess I have too much of the 'making do' instilled in me that trashing really good stuff just would never happen.
