Type of light for dining room

We have an open concept home so no matter which room you're in you can see the kitchen, dining and living room all at once.

Our living room is designed quite "softly" - sheer lilac curtains, velvet drum-shade lamps, velvety furniture. Our kitchen is more dramatic - dark, dark brown cabinets, stainless steel backsplash and white/grey quartz counters. Our dining room (very small) holds a dark wooden rectangular table with benches.

So - we're trying to decide on a dining room light. We're thinking black or dark in colour and right now are debating between one with a black, silk string shade or one with a dark wooden slatted shade. We just can't decide which compliments all the rooms the best. Or does it have to complement all rooms the best.

Attached are photos of the two lights. Thoughts would be appreciated.ImageImageImageImage

No debate at all - light number one. Mind you it will be a pain to dust, but overall it makes a statement. The other one.....nah, but then I'm a guy. Enough said!

It's hard to say without pictures of the space.  In general though I think it might be too much to put a dark  wood light over a dark wood table and benches.  I might instead consider breaking things up a bit with a different colour/finish.  A grey tone might be my first consideration, but again that's without seeing the space.

I love the first light (wooden slats).  I think it is more contemporary and not as feminine as the silk string shade.  It also gives a bit more visual interest being that you can see the shade part in behind the slats.  Love it!
