I purchased a wallmount fireplace. It was what i wanted but it was really tricky to put together - for the directions were minimal! Anyways, after it was up and running - I really like it! Then after about. 5 times max and only having it lit for a short time period each time. anyways, i noticed the top of the inside is melted. It was covered with a felt and under that insulation but it is melted!!! What the heck? I don't want to take it down and return it! Can i just take off the insulation ?!?! I have tried to contact the company but they have not replied (not good) Any ideas?

I'm not at all familiar with wallmount fireplaces, but I wonder if the felt stuff was some kind of protective material? Is it covering a surface that may have been covered to protect the finish until unpacked? I wouldn't use it until you get an answer. Do you have a specialty shop nearby that sells similar fireplaces? Maybe a call or visit there might get you some help, even if the ones they sell are different brand names.
Packaging is so sophisticated now. I recently purchased some Ikea mirrors which had thin protective clear plastic on them, and it was so transparent and perfect I almost didn't notice it. There weren't even any telltale seams, and it must have been 'vacuum-packed' for such a tight fit.
I'm finding the same thing with minimal directions, especially imported items.
